site hosts in the Old North End
Andy Bainton (they/them)
mushroom magician, garden gnome
Andy is the co-founder of City Sprouts and host to a welcoming Soil Cycle site located on Mansfield Ave. They are eager to learn and share their experience communing with fruits, both fungal and forested! Andy tends to orchards, veg farms, and mushrooms in VT – whether you’re looking for plant starts, pruning tips, or a full garden glow-up, you’ll want to connect with Andy!
Juniper Hobson (they/them)
no-waste wizard, arbiter of abundance
From electronics to food scraps, Juniper is an expert on managing all forms of household waste, and currently serves VT DEC’s Solid Waste Management Program. Juniper is known for their dedication to feeding their community and keen attention to food safety and dumpster navigation; they’ve rescued tens of thousands of pounds of edible food in the last several years of coordinating dumpster dives with a handful of co-ops in town.
The beating heart of our festival hauling team, we are so lucky to have Isaac as our newest site host! You’ve likely seen Isaac taking care of our parks around town. Isaac is quick to master and eager to share with others; he is currently occupied with bike building for touring, hauling, and commuting without carbon. Whether he’s swimming in a massive dumpster or off-roading down a mountain side – you’ll find this guy with a smile on his face, a hand to lend and a silly story to share!
Isaac Danuloff (any pronouns)
festival genie, crowd medium
& in the New North End
Syrah Diaz (she/they)
dragonfly whisperer, grounding force
Syrah is adored for her effortless facilitation at most every NPA meeting, her commitment to feeding the community with Agewell and Miss Weinerz, and her knack for identifying the subtle notes of fermentation.
Syrah hosted the founding site for Soil Cycle BTV, where we first modeled a system for lawn transformation. When she’s not beautifying the backyard with critter habitat, Syrah spends her time apprenticing as an electrician.
site hosts in Winooski
Lissy Parrish (they/she/he)
storyteller, animal communicator
Our most vetted composter, Lissy, was previously an operator of Intervale Compost (iykyk). She has been bike commuting within this city for two decades, and in NYC before that! If you’ve had the pleasure of encountering this sage local, you’ve likely connected. Lissy has an intuition for building social infrastructure as well as organic matter. We are so grateful to Lissy for extending this project across the Winooski valley and folding in her zeal for all life.
Bo Bomeisl (they/she/he)
web weaver, loudmouth, alchemist
Soil Cycle BTV emerged in the spirit of resource sharing across the urban landscape, and Bo is most often facilitating this web. Stirring the cauldron & forging connections between gardeners, artists, cyclists, educators, wood workers, and witches.
Prior to founding Soil Cycle BTV, Bo had investigated the unsustainable nature of global nutrient economies, specifically the impact of phosphorus scarcity on food security — they really can’t stop yapping about the importance of a localized nutrient economy!
Bo is the resource coordinator, lead operator/trainer, and content curator for our Instagram and website. Talk to them about the myths of the Neolithic Revolution!
off-site
Deb Kraft (she/they)
saint of the cycles, brass bandit
Burlington’s local treasure – Deb Kraft! The people’s bike mechanic, shop educator, and a regional advocate for independent mobility.
Deb is both an anti-capitalist gearhead and global bicycle nomad with a deep love for dumpster diving and feeding her people. We cherish Deb for so many reasons, including her abundant offerings at Old Spokes home, and her commitment to building connections on bikes across the Champlain valley with the Radical Adventure Riders.
